New Transportation Fuel Switch Methodology Approved
VCS has approved a new methodology to quantify and credit GHG emission reductions from projects that substitute gasoline with ethanol in commercial fleets of flex-fuel vehicles.
The methodology — VM0019: Fuel Switch from Gasoline to Ethanol in Flex-Fuel Vehicle Fleets – was developed by Keyassociados and Ecofrotas.
Projects may apply the methodology if E100 ethanol substitutes at least 95 percent of the gasoline consumed by an existing fleet of commercial flex-fuel vehicles.
The methodology was assessed by two validation/verification bodies under the VCS methodology approval process: DNV and First Environment. All assessment reports and other documents are available on the VM0019 page of the VCS website.
VCS, Keyassociados and First Environment will host a webinar on 11 July to introduce stakeholders to the methodology.
